Jalon Samuel, Dancin David -  an unlikely duo both having to overcome seemingly impossible hurdles, given little or no chance. Each showing an indomitable spirit and an unwavering urge to win despite the odds

Eighteen year old jockey Samuel, first pass the winning pole in last year’s race only to lose and heartbreakingly so  in the stewards’ room when a protest against him was upheld. If Jalon was inconsolable then, he was ecstatic on Saturday when he came storming home  winning the 31st running of the Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup in emphatic style.

Starting the week it seemed highly unlikely as the young man found himself without a mount for the big day

Dancin David also without a hope at the beginning of the week  having not been in the chosen and ultimate twelve. Then fate stepped in, Mignun Temple was scratched and Jalon was asked to ride Dancin David  The rest is history.
